They call him “The Artistic Dragon”.

Addie Afable is an illustrator and instructor specializing in
character design for anime/ manga (Japanese animation/
comic books), as well as merchandise art. With the
knowledge he acquired from art classes and self-taught
techniques, he does freelance work for clients in need of the
popular anime and manga art. He conducts live tutorials in
Anime Workshops throughout Illinois in various libraries,
high schools, and colleges.

Being involved in Anime Central, the largest convention of
its kind in the Midwest, he leads staff artists in production for
their program books, flyers, posters, etc., and was
responsible for creating art for the 10th Anniversary
merchandise, which included 3D lenticular badges,
anniversary t-shirts, watches, lunch boxes, and bags.

During conventions within the U.S., he attends artist alleys
and has helped coordinate guest relations for Japanese
animation studios, manga artists, and musical groups (J-pop),
as well as host events and art competitions with both
American and Japanese guests.

One of his creative properties is a manga called Poker Silly; a
romance, comedy graphic novel based on poker, particularly
Texas Hold 'em. His protagonist, Ally Angelhart, is the model
he uses for his workshop tutorials.

He is also well-known for his Chibi Chubbies, caricatures of
people and fictional characters. The word "chibi" means
"little” in Japanese. A Chibi Chubby is a small yet plump
version of us.

If you see Addie in a convention or at one of his workshops,
he might make you a Chibi Chubby!
